Extended-Term Missions
Coordinator: Carol Restaine
Stateside Coordinator: Tom Esposito
In August 2004, the Missioners began a new stage of
our work in Honduras. With the implementation of the
Long Term Missionary program, we now have a
Community composed of both Hondurans and Gringos
that serve the Diocese of Comayagua.
The commitment for the program is 2 years.
This begins with an introductory period of
orientation, language study, formation and
discernment for the remaining time. The
program provides an opportunity for individuals to
live in community, seeking God's will for their
lives as they serve the poor in Honduras. A simple
lifestyle and rule of life, is observed by all
members of the community. Dying-to-self is a daily
exercise, as we put our own needs aside to serve
God's people and their brothers and sisters and
Christ in the Missioners Community.
Obedience, submission, sacrifice, and service are
not bad words when living in this community, yet
instead opportunities to fully live in the freedom
of God's grace. This is no easy task, but it is the
opportunity of a lifetime.
