Extended-Term Missions
Coordinator: Carol Restaine
Stateside Coordinator: Tom Esposito

In
August 2004, the Missioners began a new stage of our
work in Honduras. With the implementation of the
Long Term Missionary program, as of December, 2006
we now have 14 missionaries for the 2006-07 year and
will be receiving in addition 4 new Honduran
volunteers in January of 2007.
The commitment for the program is 18 -24 months.
This begins with an introductory period of
orientation, language study, formation and
discernment for the remaining time. The program
provides an opportunity for individuals to live in
community, seeking God's will for their lives as
they serve the poor in Honduras. A simple lifestyle
and rule of life, is observed by all members of the
community. Dying-to-self is a daily exercise, as we
put our own needs aside to serve God's people and
their brothers and sisters and Christ in the
Missioners Community.
Obedience, submission, sacrifice, and service are
not bad words when living in this community, yet
instead opportunities to fully live in the freedom
of God's grace. This is no easy task, but it is the
opportunity of a lifetime.
