Formation


 

Philosophy

As the Missioners of Christ is a Discipleship Community, Formation is a central component of all that we do. All formation is deeply rooted in a disciple relationship with Jesus Christ and His Bride, the Church. The Four Pillars (The Eucharist, the Charisms of the Holy Spirit, the Blessed Mother, and the Magisterium) provide the framework from which all formation flows.

Most formational opportunities are open to all those who are interested, though their are occasional events which are specifically designed to build community and understanding among those who are either Covenant/Committed Members and those who are formally Discerning commitment to the Missioners.

Though all formational "internal ministries" are aimed at strengthening our individual and communal Faith, its ultimate goal is to "refuel" us so we can go forth and serve under the Great Commission.

InterMission

Young Adult Retreats

Three times a year the Missioners facilitate a retreat for both young and young-at-heart adults. These lightly -structured retreats are times for spiritual refreshing, fellowship, formation, and shared prayer and praise. Generally are held in three different parts of Virginia throughout the year, and are usually held during Lent, the second week of June, and Labor day weekend.

Prayer Groups

As the Missioners were formed out of this prayer group, in many ways this ministry is our "meat and potatoes". Including Eucharistic Adoration, praise & worship, testimonies, talks, and small group faith sharing, the goals of this prayer group are discernment of God's will for us (communally & individually), spiritual refreshment, and general fellowship.

Communitas Pactum

Commitment Retreat 

For Covenant/Committed Members and formal Discerners, this is a weekend of reflection and our annual Commitment Ceremony. Traditionally held on the Vigil of Divine Mercy Sunday, this is a solemn celebration of those who feel called to a deeper commitment to the Vision and Mission of the Missioners of Christ.

For all members, this is a weekend of reflection and discernment -- both of elected positions, as well as appointed Coordinator positions.
