Membership
Commitment
The Missioners are a
Community of believers who have made a formal commitment to God, His Church, and
each other. Jesus Christ, throughout His ministry, continued to call people to
community, and this call is at the core of our identity.
All
members are also committed to the Ministry of Missioners of Christ, and support
its activities through participation in either internal or external ministries;
gearing to build up the Community and the Ministry, that together form the "two
lungs" of the Missioners.
Membership
In
determining “membership” in the Missioners of Christ Community, many different
factors need to be considered. On the one hand, membership should be open and
inviting to all who have properly discerned involvement and commitment. At the
same time, there needs to be expectations and guidelines, as the very nature of
Community requires an act of dying to self, and commitment to others who have
entered into the same covenant. Absence of open invitation creates a closed
segment that contradicts the very message and mission of Christ. Absence of
expectations and guidelines promotes more of a “club” mentality which does not
foster Christian relationships that challenge each other to grow in their
relationships with themselves, others, and God.
Disciplines
There are a few expectations
that apply to all categories of community involvement/membership. While many
general expectations may change with the current needs of the community, some
are considered unwavering because they go to the very core of our Faith and the
meaning of Community life. Other expectations will develop with time and may
require further illumination at a later date.

Expectations
 |
Each person who
wishes to participate in the living community must fully recognize the
authority of the Catholic Church to teach in matters of Faith and Morals.
In accepting this, each acknowledges that they must constantly strive for
holiness and a life that conforms to these teachings. |
 |
Each person
must be as fully committed to the other members of the community as they are
able given their location and state in life. Expectations for the
fulfillment of this commitment will depend on one’s level of participation
but in general strives to challenge the individual to live out Jesus’ great
commission to go and make disciples of all nations.
