Structure
Philosophy
The infrastructure for Missioners of Christ is
established subservient to the vision and mission of
Missioners of Christ. The principles of Mission/Vision
Infusion, Collegiality, and Gift-Led Autonomy are the
underpinnings of the management of the organization.
Properly established structures allow for efficiency in
rapid response to the changing needs of those we serve,
and also provide parameters within which each member
with decision-making powers can freely utilize their
creativity and other giftings without being bogged down
by multi-level bureaucratic approval procedures, or be
delayed by the need for a community vote.
The
Concilium
The Concilium is the
governing board of the Missioners of Christ. It is a
legal entity, in that it is the Board of Directors with
all the legal powers afforded to it. At the same time,
the goal of the Concilium is not to legislate, but
serve.
Role of the Concilium:
Though the
Concilium does have certain legal governing powers, its
goal is to govern minimally, but instead, support the
gift-led autonomy in the individual decision-making
positions.
> Constantly seek God’s
calling and direction for the Missioners
> Serve as Protectors of the Vision of the Missioners
> Election/Discernment of President/Leader
> Election/Discernment of Officers/Director of Offices
> Maintain sense of the “pulse” of the Missioners
> Promote Collaboration between the Three Offices
> Make determinations on matters not identified in the
PPG’s and which fall outside the purview of the
Leader and/or Directors
> Approve large expenditures by Missioners
> Serve as the final determinant in matters of
conflict resolution
> Approve formal relationships between Missioners and
other entities
Composition of the Concilium:
The
Concilium will be composed of an adequate number of
Covenant/Committed members to represent the Community,
yet will remain small enough to provide for efficiency
in decision-making.
The
Offices
The organization of the
Missioners of Christ is divided into three divisions, or
“Offices”, each with a Director at its head. This
Director exercises a high-degree of autonomy in
decision-making within their Office, yet does so in
subservience to the Vision & Mission of the Missioners,
and in light of serving the common good of the
Missioners.
Office of Community:
The Community facet of Missioners involves those
activities which strengthen its members and associates,
both in their personal walk with Christ as well as
communally. These are the internal activities, such as
prayer groups, internal retreats, formation,
intercessory prayer, and social activities that build up
and prepare its Members to “go forth” in fulfilling the
vision and mission of the Missioners.
Office of Ministry:
The Ministry facet
of Missioners involves those activities which serve
those outside of ourselves. These are the very
discipleship ministries for which the Missioners of
Christ was established, and to which we are called.
These are outreach, or external activities that fulfill
the Great Commission, such as long- & short- term
missions (both domestic and international), youth
retreats, and youth Masses.
Office of Administration:
The
Administration facet of Missioners involves those
activities which logistically support both the other two
offices, as well as the overall organization. These are
the activities which appear to be peripheral and perhaps
not even noticed, but are essential to the efficient,
effective implementation of the vision and mission of
the Missioners of Christ. These activities include
fiscal management, media & communication coordination,
grant & funding activities, web & internet coordination,
and quality assurance.
